Square Enix and Sony have announced that the Hitman beta will return to PS4 next week, on the 4th of March. This time around, players are only required to have an active PlayStation Plus subscription to join the beta.
This beta is the same one that was made available for PS4 and PC players that pre-ordered the game's digital version. It gives players access to the game's prologue, a mission where players will not only be introduced to the game's gameplay features and mechanics, but also find out how Agent 47 was recruited into the CIA. In addition, the developer has also released a new cinematic trailer that bridges the 20-year gap between this prologue and the Sanguine Fashion Show in Paris.
"Our initial beta was an extremely helpful moment for our new Hitman game, as it gave us great insight into how the server game mechanics function under pressure," said Hanne Seifert, IO Interactive's studio head. "A lot of those pressure points are currently being strengthened for release.
"Now Sony have given us the opportunity to go even bigger to validate some of the initial things we saw. Therefore we are inviting everyone who is a PlayStation Plus member to try the same beta and you don't have to pre-order the game. This will allow us to really stress test our server setup, which is a crucial element for us to get just right."
Hitman releases on the 11th of March on PS4, Xbox One and PC. The 'Hitman Intro Pack', which gives players access to the Prologue and the France levels, will be available for $14.99/€14.99/£11.59, with each subsequent location costing $9.99/€9.99/£7.99. Should players wish to purchase the full package, they will be able to do so for $59.99/€59.99/£44.99.
