All Gears of War 4 post-launch multiplayer maps will be playable for free, Coalition Studio Head Rod Fergusson has revealed. However, there's a small catch, as these maps will rotating in and out of operation.
The game will release with 10 maps, with Coalition Studio adding new maps every month for at least a year. Since these maps will rotating, every time new DLC maps are added, these will replace the previous ones in the regular playlists. Doing this will prevent the Gears of War 4's player base from being split.
You can still play in maps that aren't currently in the playlists in private matches, however, you will have to pay to get access to them. On the bright side, only the host of the game needs to own the map for the rest of the players to get in on the action.
The Gears of War 4 multiplayer beta kicks off on the 18th of April for those who played Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on Xbox One or PC. This beta will then expand to all Xbox Live Gold members a week later, on the 25th of April.
