Developer Roland Studios and publisher Atlus's latest title Daydreamer: Awakened Edition is releasing in about a month on PS4 and Xbox One, so in anticipation of the release they've released some behind the scenes information about the upcoming game.
A side-scrolling shooter/action platformer paying tribute to the 8/16-bit eras, Roland Studio's title is made up of a one-man team, Roland Womack, doing the programming, designing, art, you name it. This latest trailer below showcases what inspired Roland as he created the game, taking a look at Womack's different inspirations for the creepy environments, monsters, bosses, and animations in the game. Sci-films, retro video game from the 80s, and grotesque artistic murals in New York City are just some of the influences that helped Womack bring his vision to fruition.
Daydreamer: Awakened Edition will be available exclusively as a digital release in the Americas, Europe and Asia. It will be available on May 31 on PS4 via the PlayStation Store, followed a few days later on June 3 on the Xbox One via the Xbox Store. It will be priced at $9.99 in North America, with other regions priced at comparable international pricing. The official website for the game can be found here.
