Atlus has announced that Roland Studios' upcoming title Daydreamer: Awakened Edition will be releasing on July 12, although there's a slightly change in the console release plans for the game.
A side-scrolling shooter/action platformer paying tribute to the 8/16-bit eras, Roland Studio's title is made up of a one-man team, Roland Womack, doing the programming, designing, art, you name it. This latest trailer below showcases what inspired Roland as he created the game, taking a look at Womack's different inspirations for the creepy environments, monsters, bosses, and animations in the game. Sci-films, retro video game from the 80s, and grotesque artistic murals in New York City are just some of the influences that helped Womack bring his vision to fruition.
Due to unfortunate issues, Atlus announced the game will no longer be released on the Xbox One as originally planned, thus making the game exclusively a PS4-only release. In consolidation for the news, the publisher announced the game will be receiving a 20% PSN discount for one week following launch when it releases next week on July 12. It will be priced at $9.99 in North America, with the other Americas, Europe and Asia regions priced at comparable international pricing.
