Bethesda has announced that Doom's 'Unto the Evil' DLC pack will launch on the 5th of August on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Doom's first multiplayer map pack introduces three new multiplayer maps: Offering, Cataclysm and Ritual. It also includes a new playable demon called 'Harvester', the UAC EMG Pistol, the Kinetic Mine, new ways to customize your DOOM Marine, and new hack modules.
With paid DLC in multiplayer games often resulting in the gaming community being split in two, Bethesda has taken a different approach with this DLC to prevent that to some extent. According to Bethesda, everyone in a party will be able to play on the new multiplayer maps as long as one of them has purchased the DLC.
"With the launch of Unto the Evil and the introduction of several new maps, we also want to keep our community playing together, so we're introducing a feature of DLC we call PartyPlay," said Bethesda. "If you haven't purchased the premium DLC and a map comes up that you don't have, but you're currently in a party with another player who has purchased the DLC, you'll be allowed to continue playing. Conversely, if you have purchased a premium DLC pack, anyone in your party can play any of the maps from the DLC as long as they're with you."
In addition, the 'Exodus' and 'Sector' game modes are now available for free for everyone. Exodus is a Capture the Flag mode, while Sector is similar to King of the Hill.
The "Unto The Evil" DLC pack will be priced at $14.99/£11.99/€14.99. Alternatively, players can purchase the Season Pass, which gives access to all post-launch content, for $39.99/£29.99/€39.99.
