Square Enix has recently revealed the release date for Final Fantasy XV Episode Gladiolus and the release window for Episode Prompto, confirming that Episode Ignis will be the last of the three story DLCs to release.
Speaking with Dualshockers, director Hajime Tabata explained the reason for the order of the episodes. According to Tabata, Episode Gladiolus has always been planned as the first DLC, as the team intends to deliver enhanced action battle gameplay for it.
While there was some debate on which one among Prompto and Ignis should come second, the team opted to have Prompto's Episode as the second story DLC. Ignis's Episode will come last because what happens in his episode has a large impact on the story of Final Fantasy XV, and the team wanted to have the time to create a really solid experience.
Final Fantasy XV will continue to receive several updates throughout the year. Despite Final Fantasy XV being out already, Tabata revealed that 70% of the development team is still working on the game. This team is working on updates, DLC packages and the promised virtual reality experience based on Final Fantasy XV for PlayStation VR.
Episode Gladiolus releases on the 28th of March, while Episode Prompto is set to release sometime in June. A price for individual episodes has yet to be revealed. Season Pass holders will be able to download all this for free.
