Brazilian game studio BitCake and publisher Versus Evil announced that their fast paced multiplayer shooter Holodrive, currently in Early Access, has launched on Steam as a free-to-play title.
"We are really pleased to be helping the BitCake team launch Holodrive into the free to play world," commented Steve Escalante, General Manager of Versus Evil. "It's an incredibly fun, fast paced multiplayer game with tons of character customizations and weapon unlocks. We are building a robust content release schedule while also working to port the game to consoles. For those looking for a fast paced, skillful shooter, Holodrive will be sure to please!"
In Holodrive, players customize their character with a cool outfit, equip their weapon of choice plus a jet pack and then jump into battle in one of the many arenas. Fast gameplay is accentuated with the use of ramps and strategically placed power ups that can turn the tide of battle with an element of surprise at any time. Players can carry up to 7 weapons at the same time and they can expand their weapon and outfit collection by opening Holopacks that grant random items, some of which are super rare. They can also 'dematerialize' duplicate items and weapons and craft them into other customizations they don't already have. Each player can also show off their own individual style with deep character customization clothing items.
In addition, to celebrate the game's launch, the BitCake team is also launching their new game mode, Cocoball, which combines basketball and pinball gameplay - not with a ball, but with a chicken. You can check a new trailer showing off the new game mode below.
