Developer SNK Corporation and publisher Atlus announced that Rock Howard will be joining The King of Fighters XIV as paid DLC character. He's the fourth DLC fighter to be revealed for the game following the announcements of Vanessa, Whip, and Yamazaki.
First seen as the main character from Garou: Mark Of The Wolves, Rock is the estranged son of Geese Howard who was raised by Terry Bogard. His fighting style is a unique mix of both Terry and Geese's styles and he even boasts his own variations on some of their iconic moves, such as Geese's Raging Storm and Terry's Buster Wolf. His Crack Counter, for example, combines the reversal techniques from Geese's Aikijutsu moves with Terry's Crack Shoot attack.
This melding of styles results in a well-rounded fighter. He sacrifices both Geese's dominating power and Terry's simple and direct style for speed and versatility, creating a unique approach that stands on its own despite borrowing heavily from two disparate fighters.
Rock, Vanessa, Whip, and Yamazaki will launch on the 5th of April. Each character will be available for $4.99. In addition, SNK will release update 2.00 for The King of Fighters XIV, which adds the "Transcontinental Railroad" and "City Circuit", overall character balance adjustments, action record and playback feature during dummy reversals in Training Mode, background music, and improvements and some bug fixes.
