Naughty Dog has revealed new details and information about the upcoming Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. The news comes from the latest issue of Game Informer, which reveals some story details on the game, why Naughty Dog chose to have Chloe Frazer as the main character for the game, and more.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is a standalone expansion that will star Chloe Frazer, alongside Uncharted 4 antagonist Nadine Ross. According to Naughty Dog, the development team considered other options for main characters of this expansion, such as Sully and Sam, but ultimately they felt the best option was Chloe and Nadine.

The Lost Legacy will take players on an adventure to find a legendary artifact that the Hoysala people of India created to honor the Hindu god Ganesh's story. The story will be more focused on character development, exploring Chloe's and Nadine's story, their personalities, and the relationship between the two.

"The understanding of the [Ganesh] story is what is interwoven into Chloe's story. As she goes across her journey, she has one understanding of that story and at the end of the journey she has a new understanding of that story," said creative director Shaun Escayg.

"We are taking a lot of time to dig in and consult the right people"“to not offend on the religious level, on all levels. We also want to make sure we represent the people of that region properly."

In addition, The Lost Legacy will feature the single largest level in the Uncharted series. Designer James Cooper states that it's much larger than Uncharted 4's Madagascar, which was previously the largest level.

Every area in The Lost Legacy will have its own unique theme, and the Western Ghats level is focused on waterfalls, currents, mud climbs, and boulders. The jeep from Uncharted 4 returns for The Lost Legacy, as does its winch tool. As for side content and extras, there will be collectibles, new weaponry, extra encounters, and special triggers for dialogue between characters.

Chloe uses a phone to record every activity and take notes, unlike Drake which used his journal to record everything. Naughty Dog said that the reason Chloe uses a phone is because "the journal is kind of Drake's thing".
