In an interview with Famitsu, Kingdom Hearts III director Tetsuya Nomura has shared new details on Kingdom Hearts III.
Nomura revealed that the number of Disney worlds in Kingdom Hearts III is less than the amount included in Kingdom Hearts II, which featured twelve Disney worlds. However, he adds that players can expect the density of each world to be greater, including gameplay. Currently there are four Disney worlds confirmed for Kingdom Hearts III, which means that most likely we can expect at least another 5-7 Disney worlds to be featured in the game.
Asked about the recently revealed Toy Story world, Nomura admitted that he wanted a Toy Story world in Kingdom Hearts since around Kingdom Hearts II, and for Kingdom Hearts III there were repeated negotiations as its inclusion was of absolute necessity. The story in the Toy Story world will take place after Toy Story 2, and will follow its canon timeline rather than taking place in a parallel storyline.
Nomura also revealed that the development on the Big Hero Six world is progressing well, but news on that is still down the line.
Kingdom Hearts III releases in 2018 on PS4 and Xbox One.
