Square Enix announced at PAX East 2018 that Final Fantasy XV‘s multiplayer expansion Comrades is getting a standalone release this Summer, meaning that fans will be able to experience 'Comrades' without the need to purchase the main game. The multiplayer expansion will also receive an update which will add new bosses, raid bosses, and battle challenges.
Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition will also see several additions in the coming months. Starting this Spring, the game will receive mod support, which lets players upload their weapon and outfit creations to Steam Workshop. Another future update will allow players to create their own avatar, similar to how it's done in Comrades, and use that character instead of Noctis in the game's single-player portion.
Square Enix has also announced a new gameplay feature called "User Treasure". With this new feature, players can hide "treasure" for other players across the world to find and collect. The longer it takes for someone to find the "treasure", higher will its value be.
Finally, a Level Editor is coming to Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition this fall. Using the Level Editor, players will be able to create new original maps and simple quests, place enemies and items, and create specific sequences such as trigger boxes that will initiate events.
Final Fantasy XV is out now for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
